Michał Mierzejewski – born on 17 December 1989 in Olsztyn (Poland). A composer, an arranger and a founder of Sinfonietta Consonus orchestra,
inventor/composer/arranger of Symphonic Theater of Dreams. Founder of Symphonic Evenings of PROG.
In 1997 he began to learn how to play the violin in the State School of Music (1st level) in his home town Lidzbark Warmiński. Michał Mierzejewski started composing in 2005. He composes and arranges music for various ensembles. He cooperates with many artists from all around the world. He writes contemporary music as well as film and computer games soundtracks.
In October 2009 he received a commendation for the composition „Schizofrenia” for the string orchestra at the Young Composers Contest dedicated to Janina Garść in Kraków.
Michał Mierzejewski as the founder of symphonic orchestra SC and SToD project, a composer, arranger and orchestra composer has been collaborating with, among others, Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Mike Portnoy (ex Dream Theater, Winnery Dogs), Vivaldi Metal Project, Mariusz Duda (Riverside, Lunatic Soul), Transatlantic, Flying Colors, Sylwia Grzeszczak, Neal Morse/Neal Morse Band, Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Steve Morse (Deep Purple), Casey McPherson (Alfa Rev), Tina Guo (Hans Zimmer), Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, Joe Satriani), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings), Govan Guthrie (Steven Wilson, Asia, The Aristocrats), Marco Minnemann (Paul Gilbert, Mike Keneally, Nina Hagen, Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman), Randy George, Eric Gillette, Bad Salad, Affector, Marc Papeghin, Krzysztof Jaryczewski (Oddział Zamknięty), Whiterose, Collin Leijenaar, Daniel Fries, Sigma Project, Eva Kathryn, ARLON, Blindead, Intolerance, and many more.
Michał Mierzejewski’s greatest achievements:
- The Symphonic Theater of Dreams Project and its international success. The Project is currently working on the tribute album to the band Haken, the tour and the event called Symphonic Evenings of PROG. SToD Project performed in the Baltic Opera House in Gdańsk and at the Drum Fest festival in 2012 in Opole (also as a conductor).
- The musical coordinator of the recording session for the album of Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) called "Explorations For Keyboard And Orchestra". The artist came to Poland (to Gdańsk) in order to record a whole album with Sinfonietta Consonus.
- Orchestral arrangements for "Tamta Dziewczyna" album by Sylwia Grzeszczak, one of the greatest polish artist in Poland. Album received Golden Status at the day of premiere and after 3 weeks Platinum Status and later Double Platinum Status. Michał Mierzejewski created arrangements for string quartet for "Tamta Dziewczyna Tour" in 2016. 20 Concerts took place on the largest and most prestigious venues in Poland. Arrangements was performed by Sinfonietta Consonus String Quartet.
- In October 2009 Michał Mierzejewski received the Janina Garść award for a composition „Schizofrenia” for string orchestra in the Young Composers Competition.
- The creation of the eight-minute medley with the most famous songs of the supergroup Transatlantic. The order was placed by Mike Portnoy himself and was completed by Michał in 12 hours. Michał’s work was used during all the international tour of the band in 2014 as the introtape, the intermission tape and the outrotape. It became part of the release called "KaLIVEoscope" which won "The Best Multimedia of 2014" award given by the readers of the legendary PROG magazine.
- 'Palnik' award for the album of the year at 'Doki Music Awards' for BLINDEAD, "Ascension" album (2016). Michał Mierzejewski created orchestral arrangement on track "Wastelands".
- Michał Mierzejewski held European tour with The Neal Morse Band (feat. Mike Portnoy) and worked on its production. His symphonic arrangement (tribute to The Neal Morse band, Alive Again) was used as the outrotape during every concert on that tour.
- A tribute to Neal Morse created by Michał, "Testimony" was used as the introtape by Neal Morse during his international tour in 2011. This piece of music was also recorded on the DVD/CD release "Testimony 2: Live in Los Angeles"
- A symphonic tribute to Flying Colors (tribute to their first album) was used as the outrotape during the international tour in 2012. It was also part of the BR/DVD/CD "Flying Colors - Live In Europe". Two years later Michał created a tribute to this band again, this time it was a tribute to their second album "Second Nature". This piece of music was also used as the outrotape in 2014 during the tour. The arrangement is released on "Second Flight: Live At The Z7" by Flying Colors
- Michał Mierzejewski’s compositions have already appeared on stages of Europe, North/Central/South America and Asia. 21 different countries and a list of about 50 cities – this is the musical output of the last 3 years of this artist’s career.
